After early film productions, master of arts of humanities in Tübingen about the function of drama in German poet Hölderlin’s philosophy of history and scholarships in Naples (Italy), he became the assistant of Russian director Jurij Ljubimow at the Staatsoper of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Besides that he was executive producer of the Landeskunstwochen in Tübingen and assistant to the pantomime and director Helfrid Foron, a longtime collaborator of Samuel Beckett. He has published about theatre, orchestras, composers for media like The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, Die Deutsche Bühne and various newspapers.
He has directed in various theatres in Germany since 1989, Beckett, Chr.Wolf, F. Schiller. In the field of opera Udo Zimmermann, Henze and many productions of Rossini, Mayr, Meyerbeer, Mercadante for Rossini in Wildbad, many of them modern premières like EDOARDO E CRISTINA (Rossini), SEMIRAMIDE (Meyerbeer) and a successful MOSE IN EGITTO.
2007-2009 he reconsidered his theatrical approach and had huge successes after that with the performances of IL SIGNOR BRUSCHINO, LA CENERENTOLA, IL TURCO IN ITALIA, GUILLAUME TELL, IL VIAGGIO A REIMS, L’INGANNO FELICE (Rossini) and I BRIGANTI (Mercadante). Four of these productions will soon be available on DVD. The DVD of GUILLAUME TELL, which was edited by himself, was awarded EDITOR’S CHOICE in OPERA NEWS (New York) August 2015.
