Mariella Devia is a regular guest of Teatro alla Scala, Covent Garden, Metropolitan, Teatro Comunale and Maggio Musicale in Florence, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro Regio di Parma, Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Ravenna Festival, Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
She has worked with such important conductors as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Wolfgang Sawallisch.
Her repertory includes the major bel canto roles in such title as Tancredi, I puritani, Rigoletto, La traviata, Il ratto dal serraglio, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Lodoiska, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, La sonnambula, Idomeneo, Otello, Zelmira, Benvenuto Cellini, Le nozze di Figaro, Parisina d’Este, Lakmè, Il matrimonio segreto, Falstaff, Le comte Ory and Roméo et Juliette.
During the 2011/12 season she gained a great success performing Roberto Devereux (Elisabetta) at the Opéra de Marseille, Anna Bolena at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste and at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, La traviata at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, as well as a successful recital at the Teatro alla Scala. She also made an acclamed role debut as Liù in Turandot at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova.
She opened the 2012/13 season with her oustanding performance of Maria Stuarda at Teatro Donizetti di Begamo, followed by an Opera Gala at Opéra de Marseille, Il Pirata (Imogene) at Liceu de Barcelona and her much awaited role debut as Norma at Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
In June 2014 she returned to New York Carnegie Hall of New York as Elisabetta in Roberto Devereux.
Some of Mariella Devia’s most memorable performances have included Lucrezia Borgia, Lucia di Lammermoor, Beatrice di Tenda, Maria Stuarda and La traviata at the Teatro alla Scala, Adelia at the Carnegie Hall in New York, Otello at the Covent Garden in London, Don Giovanni, La traviata and La Sonnambula at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Don Giovanni, Maria Stuarda and Tancredi at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, La donna del lago at the Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro, Marin Faliero at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Faust at the Teatro Real de Madrid, L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Liceu de Barcelona and Tancredi at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville and Mozart’s Requiem under the baton of Claudio Abbado, La traviata at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Teatro Verdi di Trieste.
Mariella Devia recorded La sonnambula (Nuova Era), Lucia di Lammermoor (Fonè), Linda di Chamounix (Teldec), Lodoiska (Sony), Cantata per Pio IX and Morte di Didone (Decca) and the critical edition of Adelia (Ricordi).
Born in Liguria, Mariella Devia lives in Rome where she graduated in singing at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome.
